WHY WE EXIST
Uttaraini exists because light has always meant more to us than decoration.
We come from mountain homes where power cuts were common and candles were part of everyday life. They were lit not for celebration, but for comfort, continuity, and warmth. In those quiet moments, a small flame made the darkness feel less heavy.
Over time, candles in our home became symbols of care—gifted during winters, shared during festivals, and lit when words felt insufficient. That relationship with light stayed with us.
Today, Uttaraini exists to bring that same feeling into modern homes:
-
warmth without excess
-
beauty without noise
-
sustainability without pretence
We don’t aim to make the most candles.
We aim to make thoughtful ones—candles that slow you down, sit gently in your space, and feel meaningful to light.
Uttaraini is our way of honouring where we come from, how we grew up, and the belief that even small, quiet things can make a difference.
OUR STORY
Uttaraini began at home—in the hills of Uttarakhand.
In our village life, candles were never an afterthought. They were lit during power cuts, winter evenings, and long, quiet nights. Simple pillar candles came first. Later, decorative ones arrived as gifts, carrying fragrance, beauty, and care. Slowly, candles became tied to memory.
Years later, while exploring what felt meaningful to build, we found ourselves returning to that light.
Uttaraini is named after the harvest festival celebrated in Kumaon—a time of gratitude, warmth, and togetherness. The name reflects what we wanted our brand to stand for: rootedness, simplicity, and quiet celebration.
We make our candles in small batches, by hand, using conscious materials like soy, beeswax, and coconut wax blends. Our vessels are chosen to be reused, refilled, or kept long after the candle is gone. Each piece is made slowly, with attention—not for perfection, but for presence.
Our inspiration comes from mountain winters, silent mornings, shared cups of chai, old homes, and the comfort of familiar light.
Uttaraini is not about trends or fast consumption.
It is about creating something that feels personal, honest, and lasting.
A candle you light not just to scent a room—but to hold a moment.
